tapped TL v.s. Standard TL.

Has anyone built and compared a standard negative taper TL with a tapped TL with similar taper? What would be the pros and cons of each approach?

No, like a tapped horn but with inverse taper.

Then try different driver offsets and lengths in the LW to see how it affects each and once you get a 'feel' for the major differences maybe any 'loose ends' can be dealt with much more specific Qs.
